The Thames Valley Starling Collaborative
We know there are individuals who attend Emergency Departments frequently. We also know some patients visit multiple departments. But do we know how many? And do we know why? More importantly, can we work together to better serve their needs across Trust boundaries? These are some of the questions we set out to answer.

We chose this website as the format to present our Q-Exchange Project report. But we hope that others doing similar work will also find it valuable. Firstly, everyone should read the GETTING IT RIGHT page. For easier usability we have further highlighted more generically relevant sections in coloured blocks, and marked useful documents on our resources page with  asterisks.

Our project focused on five emergency departments including Oxford University Hospitals, Royal Berkshire Hospital, Stoke Mandeville, Milton Keynes, and Wexham Park.

why starlings?

Our belief is that quality care for patients who regularly attend emergency departments requires careful collaboration between multiple stakeholders. Similar to the majestic murmurations of starlings.
